So, Valentines day passed. Valentines day is never a big thing for me. I buy some chocolates, stick them to paper hearts, then give them to my family. Sometimes I get stuff back, and sometimes I just eat the left over chocolates that I bought.
Other than that their’s nothing exceptional about February 14th. I suppose Valentines day is fun for my parents because they do a “14 days of Valentines” thing. It’s sort of like the 12 days of Christmas, except it starts on the 1st of February and there are 14 days. Anyway, I had a picture of the Valentines I made, but now I can’t find it, oh well.
Hmm, what should I say next . . . Oh! It snowed twice this month, once on the 8th and then again on the 14th. It was awesome! It usually never snows more than once a year where I live. I had a few awesome snowball fights with my siblings and my dad. We also did other fun snow activities, like building a snowman and building a snow fort (We never actually got it that big).
So, now I’ll move on to what’s coming up! Soon it will be the 22nd! Which is the Star Festival in a world I made up! Yep, not a real holiday, but you could still celebrate it if you wanted too. In the world I made up (Which is called Lithoniel, yep the same Lithoniel the first post talks about) the elves believe stars are angelic beings that live in the sky, there are 12 main stars (one for each month, and for each of the 12 major races) and many minor ones (for each of the minor races). The 22nd is the day in which the stars are celebrated. The elves of Lithoniel (and other places the follow the stars) go out to star watch and sing songs of the ancient days when only stars existed. Their are sometimes dancing, but mostly it is a night for calmness and peace, not active activities. Children enjoy eating special star candies that shine brightly in the night and having picnics under the stars.
10 Ideas for celebrating the Star Festival:
- Write a poem or song about the stars
- Draw/paint a picture of stars
- Eat star shaped food
- Make a star dance
- Read stories about stars
- Take a minute to just sit calmly and think of the stars
- Take a peek out your window at night and watch the stars for a minute
- Wear something with stars on it
- Wish on a star
- Write a story about stars (not necessarily the stars I described, just regular stars or make up your own idea about the stars).
Will I do the above things to celebrate the Star Festival? Maybe, maybe not. It depends on if I remember and if I have time, the 22nd is going to be a busy day for me. If you want to celebrate the star festival, go ahead. You don’t need to stick with the 10 ideas above, anything to do with stars is fine!
Quick note, everything I said about the stars (How they are angelic beings and there are 12 main ones for each month and race, etc.) is copy righted! Just in case I ever finish writing the story about Lithoniel and get it published. Don't worry if you've already made something along the lines of this idea, as long as it isn't exactly the same.
So, I have no idea when I’ll be posting next, but until then Aa' menealle nauva calen ar' malta (may your ways be green and golden)!
I want glowing candy...
ReplyDeleteBy the way, the stars on one of my novels are people also. They're not exactly angelic, but as they live above the rest of the world they see everything. When the phoenix died, their tears of mourning fell to the earth and became the faeries who can see into the future.
(: Hmm, I just thought of something. Blue candy can make your tongue turn blue, so maybe glowing candy can make your tongue glow. Now that's weird.
DeleteDon't worry about the stars thing. I'm sure I know I'm not the first to come up with the idea. The stars in my story are kind of like gods and are worshiped by the elves sort of. They're kind of like the gods and goddesses of greek mythology except the stars are a lot more responsible and united.
I mean, I know I'm not the first to come up with the idea. Not the I'm sure part.
